Choosing a Tent
We design tents for the variety of weather conditions encountered during different seasons of the year, as well as the activities in which you may participate during these seasons. We classify our tents in six categories, based on the seasons and use for which each tent is designed. Be sure that the tent you choose meets or exceeds the conditions that you expect to encounter. And don't forget to purchase a tent footprint to protect your tent's floor.
Ultralight Tents
For 2009 we challenged ourselves in the Ultralight category and we are thrilled with the results and know you will be to. We are proud to introduce our new and patented Tunnel Dome Architecture™, 6 new models and updates to our iconic Clip Flashlight and Light Year tents. Tunnel Dome Architecture™ combines the best of both worlds - free standing ease of set up and large doors from dome tents and steep walls and spacious interiors of tunnel tents. Check out our new Lightning XT 4 - a FOUR person, ultralight backpacking tent weighing in under 7 pounds! Sierra Designs .. Lightest, Fastest, Strongest.

Three-Season Tents
In 2001 we won an "Editor's Gold" award from Backpacker Magazine for our Meteor Light. It's been a love fest with consumers ever since, and in 2009 we are sweetening the deal - a completely redesigned, patent pending Eye Pole™ configuration that increases interior space and has all the head room of a three pole structure, with only two poles! You'll also notice our Tune Dome Architecture™ in our new Zeta tents. The best of both worlds, steep walls of a tunnel tent and free standing convenience of a dome tent, the Zetas are sure to be a hit with backpackers looking for a little luxury in the outdoors. Sierra Designs three season tents are the go-to shelters for anyone looking for an outdoor adventure with a trusted brand.

Four-Season Tents
Winter is no time to mess around with your outdoor shelter. Extreme conditions don't allow for faddish, unproven tents. Sierra Designs 4-season tents have been to the top of K2, to the North and South Poles and we are traveling to Everest again this season. Our sponsored athletes Eric Larsen and Chris Warner have completed some of the world's most epic adventures and given us priceless feedback along the way. You deserve battle tested tents ... and ours fit the bill.
We offer a complete collection of 4-season shelters. Whether you are headed to Ruth Gorge for some Ham and Eggs or to your fist foray into winter camping, we make a tent up to the task.

See how the Hercules performs in Wind Tunnel testing and note that it's
still standing strong at 100 mph. Shown from 80 to 100 mph. This tent was
tested without its fly or guy-outs. With a fly and proper guy-outs the
Hercules can withstand even higher windspeeds.

Base Camp Tents
Spacious, comfortable and reliable living - that's what base camp means. We get great feedback from you, our adventurers who appreciate setting up an enormous, livable shelter and trekking out from a home base. Our Mokens have been a super success and they are here for 2009 in a 4 and 6 person model.
New for 2009 are our groundbreaking WuHus. We apply our revolutionary Tunnel Dome Architecture™ to the Wu Hus, using an entirely new pole configuration. Lengthwise connector poles, with tunnel-style dome poles give the Wu Hus tall peak heights, steep walls and the best features of both tunnel and dome tents. They are our latest in base camp and family camping.

Origami Tarps
Our performance tarps represent a new frontier in lightweight and function. Based around a fundamental design of five equilateral triangles, they're strong, versatile and reliable. The Origami 2 and Origami 4 Tarps come with an adjustable DAC pole that allows pitching it taller for more headroom, or lower for a wider footprint. Multiple guy-out points allow customization with trekking poles. A zippered panel provides in-out access.

Bivys
A good bivy is a piece of mind when you are out in the elements. We weld ours out of our Drizone™ waterproof/breathable fabric. No stitch holes to leak, no seams to tear. Three models - the Navassa, Zagori and Baffin - fulfill the demands of our diverse backcountry users. The Navassa balances weight and convenience, offering full weather protection at just under a pound. The Zagori comes with a hooped hood, so if it is nuking out there, you can sleep in comfort. The new 2009 Baffin pares down to the essentials, relying on the same technologies as the rest of our bivys, but in a slimmer profile and streamlined, weight saving design. Think of our bivys as the right partner for big walls or ultralight treks.
