I purchased the Zia 2 man in the spring to replace my old SD tent that I've had since the late 1990's. I've only had two tents in the pass 15 years...why, SD tents are the best. Here's the trip: It's late spring and I'm out for a 2 week Appalachian Trail excursion. The frist day was great but, after that the rain started, by day four I'm at Roan High Shelter and wake up to temps in the high teen's to the low 20's and the wind blowing; the next couple of days it was about the same (rainy-cold-windy). The Zia 2 performed great in rough weather; I stayed warm and dry every night. I was hiking alone so I had plenty of space for gear and room to stretch out and relax. I really like that the gear loft and foot print was included. It would be nice if it were a pound or two lighter but I can live with the wieght and the X piece that goes on top is a little akward and slows you down during set-up but once you get use to it; it's easy. Great Tent!! Thanks for another great piece of gear SD. See you on the trails.

I spent my summer in Denali National Park, in Alaska, and this is the tent I chose to bring with me on my many many nights of backpacking. I have no regrets on that decision. Anyone who has been to Alaska knows that the weather can be unpredictable. I had nights of snow, heavy rain, and strong winds. This tent held up to it all. I never once thought that maybe the tent wasn't going to make it through the night. Even though I hiked solo on all of my trips, I like the extra space that this tent allows. Especially with the weather there, I like to keep my gear in the tent with me. My last tent had only one vestibule, and I loved having two on this tent. For me, this was like the White House of tents. Spacious, comfortable, plenty of storage, with the added bonus of a loft and footprint. This tent is the best tent I have ever purchased. I very highly recommend this tent.

I bought this tent as a gift for my girlfriend. I personally own a clip flashlight, which is great, but I wish I had a stand-alone tent. We recently went camping in the Wichita Mountains in Oklahoma. Weather was 50 degrees and rainy most of the weekend. It kept us warm and dry, with plenty of room to sit up and play gin rummy. Condensation is to be expected in cold weather, but it didn't bother us. I wasn't sure if I cared much about the gear loft when researching the tent, but now that I've gotten used to it, I wish all tents had one. It's like a little hammock for all the important small things you want close at hand. It has two gear pockets in addition to that. I personnaly would even consider using this as a backpacking tent even though it's about a pound and a half too heavy and a bit bulky, but it seems way sturdier than a lot of ultralight tents. I'm either going to buy one for myself or just steal it from my girlfriend if she ever stops using it.

I've used this tent a couple times now and took it out backpacking this weekend and have nothing but good things to say about it. Even with rain falling all night, this tent kept me, my fiance, and all of our gear completely dry. It is truely a 3 season tent; it was in the upper 40s overnnight but inside the tent, it felt more like 70. It's simple to set up: took us less than 10 minutes which was great because we only had about that much time before it was pitch-black and started raining. Getting the package with the gear loft and footprint make this a great deal on a great tent.
