First off, I live in Arizona. I had several people, including employees at Sierra Designs try to talk me out of buying this saying "its way too warm" or "its made to go up to negative 40, you don't need it". I'm so glad I bought it anyways. This is by far the coolest jacket I've ever put on. I have only worn it a few times and haven't even started to unlock its potential. My experience is only barely below freezing temperatures in the wind. I had no base layer and was just sitting in my camp chair relaxing while my friends all wanted to go to bed because it was too cold. My buddy said it feels like a "giant hug". I am excited to take it in colder weather to see how it does but the bottom line is these are useful for any cold night because when you're not moving around you usually get cold. If you are under 6 feet tall, consider buying the small. They are sized very very big.
