I had seen the flex down jacket on Sierra Designs' web site for a year or so and thought it looked great. When it went on sale, I bought one but was disappointed. I found it stiff and heavy. I have a very old Sierra Designs down jacket that I thought the Flex Jacket would replace but I much prefer the older jacket. The flex down jacket seemed well made but not the perfect jacket I was looking for.

Crazy warm when it matters but strangely comfortable at higher temps too. It fits super comfortably. I just can't say enough about how much I dig this jacket. It kept me warm at 10k feet at 20 deg and 30 MPH winds with just a light single layer of light polypro underneath. The hood kept my head and face toasty warm on the lifts but easily shed it when it came time to make turns. The thing is virtually perfect. I usually wear a large at 5' 10" with 34" sleeve in most stuff but this is perfect for me in medium.

Great mid layer puffy. The Flex Baffle's are awesome - keeps the jacket close fitting but can accommodate more layers underneath. Perfect for throwing under a shell with just a base layer underneath for January temperatures on summits in northern Vermont.

How warm is this jacket? I'll shed some light. When I pulled into the Loveland Ski Area parking lot, it was -9 F. Windchill was between -20 and -40 all day. I was wearing a Mid-Weight base layer, my Flex Down Jacket, and an un-insulated shell. I was COMFORTABLE! Lift rides up, ski run's back down, the jacket made the day. The hood easily fits my ski helmet (Smith Holt) and doesn't flop around when loose. It fit very well under my shell and didn't restrict movement. It is the most comfortable down jacket I've yet worn.
