(August 18, 2006) - Sierra Designs, an authentic leader in developing
innovative outdoor products including tents, sleeping bags and clothing
today announced it has raised over $4000 for several outdoor charities
at the first-ever live auction held at the Outdoor Retailer's Summer
Market on August 10, 2006.
Retailers, exhibitors and guests came together to bid on several
different packages of outdoor gear and 15 handcrafted four-foot tall
trail signs. Trail signs displayed words such as: "THE REAL DEAL",
"HAPPY TRAILS" and TAKE A HIKE", representing the authenticity and
passion of the Sierra Designs brand. An authentic auctioneer yodeled
numbers and packages while participants raised their paddles in hopes
of having the best bid. Beer flowed while attendees cheered on the
highest bidders and opened their wallets at the fun and totally unique
event.
The 45-minute live auction raised over $4000 to benefit various
outdoor charities including: Big City Mountaineers ($3050), Continental
Divide Trail Alliance ($325), Appalachian Trail Conservancy ($400) and
Colorado 14ers Initiative ($275). Each organization received a portion
of the money raised to help their missions and visions of getting
people outdoors in a clean and safe environment.
"Just like Sierra Designs' products, their live benefit auction was
unique, effective and fun," says Mark Godley, Big City Mountaineers
(BCM) Executive Director. "Five teen and five adult volunteers will be
able to participate in BCM's recreational mentoring program during 2007
thanks to the money raised through the Sierra Designs' event."
