Rock and Ice- Gnar Hoody

These days most coats marketed as "belay" jackets are fat and bulky, more like sleeping bags that enfold you like an Altoid in a mouth of down and nylon. While warm, these coats are impractical nee impossible to climb in. What climbers really need is a coat that will keep you warm at the belay, but is not so bulky that you can't climb in it, too. The Gnar Hoody is that coat. This 11.5 ounce, 800-fill goose down jacket compresses to the size of a softball and yet kept me toasty all winter (to minus 10 degrees).
