Sierra Designs has always made high-quality tents and bags, but recently they've impressed with their outerwear. The Gnar hoody, available in men's and women's models, is the latest example. It instantly became my favorite down jacket, and not just because I'm fond of the blue/charcoal color. The ultralight hoody (11.5 oz) is insulated with enough 800-fill down that it's warm enough for all but the coldest days without being bulky. When compressed into the included stuff sack it's little bigger than a grapefruit.
