Boulder, Colo.
(June 5, 2008) - After one of the most profitable years in the brand's
history, Sierra Designs concluded a successful, carbon neutral, annual
sales meeting with multiple awards, and a full line-up of exciting new
apparel, tents and sleeping bags. On May 27-29, the sales, development
and marketing teams gathered in Breckenridge Colo. to discuss new
product developments, new technologies, sales strategies, and future
opportunities. This was the second year in a row in which Sierra
Designs hosted a carbon neutral sales meeting, thanks to offset credits
from Native Energy.
"We've come a long way towards reaching our goals in product
designs, sales growth and profitability. This latest generation of
Sierra Designs gear and apparel, combined with the best team we have
ever had, will take us even further in 2009," said Paul Gagner,
president of Sierra Designs.
In addition to the revolutionary new tent, sleeping bag and apparel
introductions at the sales meeting, Sierra Designs hosted several guest
speakers, including Jake Lah, the founder and principal of DAC poles.
Mr. Lah and DAC were honored at the meeting with Sierra Designs' Vendor
Partner Award.
Sierra Designs sales team was recognized with two different awards.
The Granite Marketing Group, with Steve Copeland, Marvin Wedell and
Mike McCord covering the Rocky Mountain territory, was recognized for
their excellence in preseason sales. The Adventure Marketing Group,
with Tom Hammond, Rod Thomas and Bo Boran covering the Southeast, was
recognized for outstanding sales and service.
Sierra Designs also gave away the first annual MVP award to a
member of their in-house team for going "above and beyond" in Sierra
Designs day-to-day operations. For this inaugural award, Phoebe
Stapleton, Sierra Designs' apparel developer was recognized for her
efforts in design and development.
The highlights of the sales meeting were the 16 new tent designs,
incorporating never before seen, exclusive architectures. In
particular, the new Meteor Light 2 and 3 will incorporate a
patent-pending design that reduces weight and pole count while
increasing strength and ease of use. Additionally, Sierra Designs
exclusive Tunnel Dome™ Construction is one of the most versatile pole
configurations on the market. Sierra Designs successfully implemented
this configuration in ultralight, backpacking and base camping tents by
combining the strengths of both dome and tunnel tents in one unified
design. Freestanding ease of set up and large doors and steep walls and
spacious interiors of tunnel tents.
Sierra Designs' also introduced a new spring apparel line that more
effectively aligns with the equipment offering. Climbers, backpackers,
mountain bikers and other outdoor enthusiasts have been using Sierra
Designs tents and sleeping bags for years because of their usability
and innovation. Sierra Designs apparel will live up to the same
reputation. Sierra Designs is also reinventing the ultralight Isotope
Jacket for 2008. Weighing in at 7 ounces for the men's large the
Isotope has newly added features like the Condor Construction which
allows the user to raise their arms with out the jacket riding up. The
Nanolite fabric will be the most durable ultralight fabric on the
market with great waterproof and breathability ratings (10,000 mm and
10,000g/m2/24 hrs).
