"Boulder, Colo. (May 16, 2008)- Sierra Designs and Ultimate Direction announce the hire of Jason McGibbon as the companies' new director of sales. McGibbon comes to Sierra Designs and Ultimate Direction from Mission Playground, where he was working as a consultant and acting vice president of sales. Prior to his role with Mission Playground, McGibbon was the national sales manager for New Balance Performance Outerwear. “The most important aspect of Sierra Designs and Ultimate Direction as individual brands are the people who design, create, and sell the products. As adventure seekers, backpackers, hikers, climbers, paddlers, runners and skiers, our passion for the outdoors makes us all very good at creating and selling the best performance gear and apparel in the world,” said Paul Gagner, president of Sierra Designs and Ultimate Direction. “Jason shares this love for the outdoors with us and he brings a strong skill set that will help Sierra Designs and Ultimate Direction meet their goals for 2009 and beyond.” As the director of sales, McGibbon will be responsible for the achievement of the companies' sales and profit goals and he will work with Gagner in leading the sales effort and in the development and implementation of Sierra Designs' and Ultimate Direction's sales strategies. In addition to other duties, McGibbon will work with all members of the Sierra Designs and Ultimate Direction team to develop products and research new categories. “Sierra Designs and Ultimate Direction are clearly icons in the outdoor industry and continue to inspire anyone looking for adventure to get outside, get active, and enjoy the outdoors,” said McGibbon. “I am looking forward to becoming a part of the Sierra Designs and Ultimate Direction team and utilizing my experiences and relationships to help the brands realize significant growth opportunities.” McGibbon's roots are in the outdoor industry. His first experiences as an outdoor professional were in Europe where he explored the mountains both personally and professionally. He returned to the U.S. and used his experience in Europe as a ski guide in the Jackson Hole area. Shortly thereafter, McGibbon began working for The North Face and eventually became their regional sales manager for the Rockies. In this time he has developed an extensive working knowledge of all business segments within the outdoor industry- wholesale, retail, manufacturing, design, development, production, operations, customer service, sales and marketing. He also brings an intimate understanding of all channels of retail distribution. McGibbon will be relocating to Boulder, Colo. with his wife and 14-month old daughter where he plans on continuing his passions for the environment, outdoors and the industry that embraces the active lifestyle.
