Choosing a Sleeping Bag
Sierra Designs creates several different kinds of sleeping bags, using Climashield™ HL, Climashield™ Green, Climashield™ XP, PrimaLoft® Eco and goose down insulation, rated for many different temperature ranges. So regardless of the weather conditions, or the position in which you sleep, you can get a good night's rest in the outdoors in a Sierra Designs sleeping bag.
The Green Effect™
Sierra Designs is at the leading edge for sustainable and recycled bags. For 2008 we're using PrimaLoft® Recycled, a synthetic insulation that offers warmth and compressibility and it is made from recycled soda and water bottles. EcoSensor™ recycled shell material is durable and offers Sierra Designs quality in a post-consumer recycled product. EcoSensor™ is based on a breakthrough technology allowing us to reconstruct stronger and more resilient polyester from discarded bottles and materials. Climashield™ Green relies on post-consumer recycled material and is featured in our Verde 20 and Déjà Vu 20 bags.

DriZone Waterproof/BreathableIt's our secret weapon, DriZone 40-denier nylon waterproof/breathable material. We use it in our single-wall tents, bivy sacks and award-winning DriZone sleeping bags. The sleeping bag category has won numerous accolades from industry "People in the Know" Outside magazine 2006 Gear of the Year award and Backpacker magazine Editors' Choice Award in 2004. This season we've upped the waterproofness of DriZone without sacrificing breathability specs we've verified with an independent third-party testing facility. With our improved fabric, we're tuck stitching our DriZone bags, giving water fewer chances to enter the bag and increasing durability by hiding seams. We've also expanded our DriZone line this season to offer 30-degree bags for men and women the Rain Shadow and Stargazer. |

UltralightUltralight gear is all the rage and for good reason! A smaller, lighter pack is essential to move farther and faster in the backcountry. Some of our best sellers, the 800-fill Ultralights feature 22-denier shell materials to save weight without sacrificing durability. The competition sometimes uses a 15- or even 10-denier fabric, but compare the durability and tear strengths of our upgraded 22-denier and we think the three grams/yards (that's right, three grams) difference in weight is worth the greatly increased durability. Our Ultralight synthetic bags utilize Primaloft Eco - the most compressible and environmentally friendly synthetic insulation available. |

4-SeasonOur four-season sleeping bag offering is designed with our Expedition Jacket Hood™, welded construction and our award winning Drizone™ waterproof breathable fabric. Sierra Designs sleeping bags continue to win awards from top magazines like Backpacker and Outside. Most recent was the 2006 Gear of the Year award for the Trade Wind. The Echo and Electra step it up in 2008 with welded seams. We use cutting-edge welding technology to create a stronger fully waterproof sleeping bag. There is no need to worry about condensation or dew. The streamlined design of the Expedition Jacket Hood™ creates the most thermally efficient hood on the market. A full-face draft tube and internal chest collar can all be adjusted tightly around the face for extreme conditions - quiet in a storm and darkness in extreme northern or southern latitudes. |
